Pearl Necklaces
When I became a mother, it was the absolute best moment of my life. Seeing my new son as he laid in my arms...only another mom can appreciate the depth of the feelings I had that morning. My mother was no exception. She handed me a little jewelry box and I opened it to find a pearl necklace inside. Pearl necklaces represent the month of June and was the first birthstone I got to symbolize the month of one of my children. Pearl necklaces are sturdy and mine has stood the test of time these past 26 years and I wear it on special occasions; his birthday, his graduation, seeing him off to the military, off to deployment and home again. I wore it a few months ago at the hospital as we welcomed that same child's own firstborn into our family.
I keep the pearl necklace in my jewelry box but sometimes I bring it out and as I look at it I am filled with the memory of that day when I first became a mother. I see how that precious baby grew into a wonderful young man I am lucky to call my son. Pearl necklaces are the best gift a mom can get when her child is born in June.
