Every year on Black Friday consumers all over the United States get up very early in the morning in order to find bargains on discount watches, gold jewelry and other products. I understand that the idea behind this is to save money on Christmas gifts but to be quite honest the whole concept is completely alien to me. I was born and raised in Britain and there is no British equivalent to Black Friday. I remember the first year I came to the US I saw a news report about a person who got crushed to death by other shoppers on Black Friday and I could not believe what I was hearing. The other reason that Black Friday does not make sense to me is that I see rushing out early in the morning just to get a discount as unnecessary. Twenty years ago it might have made more sense. However nowadays if people want discount watches, pearl necklaces or gold jewelry for less than the recommended retail price they can simply shop for it online. There is no need to go through hell just to get a good deal on gold jewelry or anything else. I have found several gold jewelry bargains on the web over the years.
