Last year my grandmother asked the whole family to get her a nice 14k gold jewelry ring for her birthday. While growing up my grandmother’s parents didn’t have too much money so it had hard for them to buy things like 14k gold jewelry. When my grandmother grew older and found herself in a position where she could afford some things, one of the first things she splurged on was 14k gold jewelry. For the longest time she had been nurturing a deep desire for 14k gold jewelry and when the day came when she was able to satisfy her 14k gold jewelry desire it was like being able to take in one simple drop of water after being thirsty for many years. She describes her first 14k gold jewelry moment as one where time stood still and everything began to revolve around her and the brand new 14k gold jewelry ring she was holding. The interesting thing about that moment was that she valued her first 14k gold ring so much that it took a couple of months before she was able to wear it. Today, even though she has many more rings, it is that first one that still has her heart. We did pretty well with the one we bought for her, but I think that first ring will never be dethroned.
