gold jewelry, 14k gold jewelry

Last year was a trying year for my wife and I. We were in a wild fire that burned down our home, and we forgot to update our insurance policy. Needless to say a lot of our possessions were not covered in our policy, an oversight that cost us a tremendous amount of money and memories. Now as I think back on that day, I smile because I never would have or could have guessed what would come of it all. You see, my wife had lost all of her gold jewelry in the fire. Her armoire was filled with gold jewelry passed down for generations. There were these 14k gold accented pearl necklaces that were her great, great, great grandmothers, gone in an instant. I guess the only positive thing at the time that happened was all of the gold melted together into a big clump, but that was about to change.

As we were cleaning off the foundation and going through the ash and rubble, my wife started finding bits and pieces of 14k gold jewelry. Some gold jewelry earrings, a gold necklace and some really old gold coins. We started searching around and noticed where a beam had fallen and popped a hole in the brick fire place. As it hit the fire place, knocking a big chunk out of it, a descent sized metal box had fallen out onto the floor distributing its contents onto the floor. We found 300 of these gold coins. We also found rubies, diamonds and emeralds, all un cut. We were in shock! Where did this come from? Was it stolen? Could we keep it?

We never found who it really belonged to. But today we were able to pick it up from the police station. One year of waiting and it is ours. My wife is still a little upset about losing all of her family’s jewelry, but the coins we found alone made us very wealthy, the stones made us simply very rich.
